Big Train Whirls No-No in First Ever League vs League Game!

In an amazing start to the League vs League series, Walter Johnson of the 2005 South Side Soldiers whirls a no-hitter against the 2005 Gahanna Naturals of the Cracker Jack Baseball League at Wrigley Field! Train dominated Natural hitters all night, allowing just one walk to Eddie Mathews with 2 outs in the 7th, which ended the perfect game. "The man was on fire tonight," said catcher Javy Lopez, "those guys just didn't have a chance. What a way to open this series." Johnson needed just 88 pitches, 60 of them for strikes. He struck out six on the night. Fellow Hall of Famer Tris Speaker flied out to center field to end the game, capping off the no hitter. "Throwing the ball is what I do," quipped Johnson after the game, "sometimes it just goes your way. I'm just glad to be playing again."

On the other side, Ron Guidry had a great night as well, allowing just two runs on six hits, as Milton Bradley and Miguel Tejada both had solo shots. "I really was hitting my spots well tonight," said Guidry, "both of the homerun balls were on good pitches. Kudos to both of those guys for getting them out of the yard."

Bradley had two hits for the game. Alex Rodriguez struck out three times in the victory. "He's a good pitcher," remarked Rodriguez, "he had me fooled up there all night." Fans hope for another exciting and competitive matchup in game two. "Hopefully this is the harbinger of a great 7-game series," stated Terry Frame, commissioner of the CJWL.
