December 11, 2003: COOPERSTOWN, NY (AP) - The Finger Lakes Flashes have once again struck a deal with the Florida Christians, this time sending pitcher Jarrod Washburn and a third round rookie pick down south in exchange for outfielder Carlos Lee and pitcher Ben Sheets. Flashes owner/GM Harry Fanelli is once again pleased with the deal, saying, "We feel with these two trades we've strengthened our ballclub for the future. We are a club who isnt going to do a great deal of damage this season, so we have decided that it is never too early to build for future years. Lee will play some for us this season, but we really look forward to the 2003 LP2 seasons, when he will be a tremendous asset to our club." Sheets has been optioned to AAA Albany, where he will work out in preparation for a shot at a spot on the LP2 roster in 2003. The Flashes really feel that going forward these two trades have made them a better baseball team for the future. Rumor in Flashville has it that club executives are looking for a third baseman for the 2003 seasons, as well as some bullpen arms, before they focus their efforts on scouting for the rookie and free agent drafts...
