January 20, 2004:The Finger Lakes Flashes have agreed to a new trade today, one that sends last years second overall rookie pick, Austin Kearns to the Wu-Tang clan, along with Kyle Lohse, and 2 draft picks in exchange for shortstop Edgar Renteria. GM Harry Fanelli is very pleased with the deal, commenting earlier, "We feel we've made a move to put us closer to the playoffs next season, a goal weve had since day one here. Giving up Kearns and the picks was tough, but we feel with the FA picks we've added, we can easily replace the picks. Kearns wasnt going to be starting for us next year, as we look at an outfield of Lee, Robinson, and Huffer. As for Ernie Banks, I dont think its any secret that we've never really been fond of his low average, and he will be traded in in the off season for either a third baseman or a pitcher. We have scouts working out five or six guys in the coming weeks, and we hope to identify or target soon." Kearns refused comment, but is said to be sorry to leave Flashville in the midst of a better than expected B season.
