Lp2 Field of Dreams League (Lp2FOD)

Goal: There are a number of reasons why such a unique league was created

  • To expand on the current IDL set-up to a more interesting player set.
  • To provide the league’s retired players a place to continue playing.
  • To provide current players, who are not yet retired, but not currently playing in Real-Life MLB, aka RLMLB (injury, Japan, stuck in the minors, semi-retired, etc), a place to continue playing.
  • To provide current players who are playing in the Lp2, but were not drafted into the Lp2, a place to continue playing in the hopes of making it to the Lp2 (prospective rule, may be modified to reflect just Lp2 minor league players)
  • To promote the Lp2, expand the Lp2’s ownership base, while possibly providing a prospective ownership base for the Lp2MLB (current year league).

Draft Eligible Players: 1998-present

  • Season 1: RLMLB players that played between 1998-2007 that DID NOT play in 2008.
  • Season 2: RLMLB players that played between 1998-2008 that DID NOT play in 2009.
  • Season 3: RLMLB players that played between 1998-2009 that DID NOT play in 2010.

Notes:

  • Players that have played since 1998 and have been elected into the HOF are not eligible as regular players during a regular draft. They can only be used following the HOF rules.
  • You cannot draft any player that is currently on an Lp2MLB team. However;
  • If a player on an FOD team does, in the future, play in the RLMLB and is drafted by an Lp2MLB team, the FOD team retains partial rights to that player and can utilize that player when said player is on the Lp2MLB minor league roster. If the player is currently playing at the Major League level of the Lp2, the player must be farmed on the FOD team.

Vintages: A specific year a player is based on

  • Each player has a year in which that player is based on, chosen by the owner (between 1998 - present).
  • Each year, at the conclusion of the previous season, one vintage/year between 1998 - present will be removed. Any player utilizing that year must be switched to another year.
  • Addition of additional vintages will be discussed at a later time.

Hall of Famers: Players elected to the MLB HOF

  • Each FOD team will have one RLMLB Hall of Fame player
  • HOF player must not currently be playing in the Lp2MLB.
  • If you select a player and at a later time he gets inducted into the HOF, you will lose the rights to that player the season following his induction, as you can only have one HOF player on your team at a time. You can, however, drop your other HOF player in order to keep the new inductee, providing the new inductee isn't drafted into the Lp2MLB.
  • Stats and ratings are based on average of any 3 seasons chosen by GM.
  • Ratings averaged together based on DMB ratings for those 3 seasons. Ex=4, Vg=3, Av=2, Fr=1, Pr=0 all divided by 3 to get average rating (rounded up).
  • HOF’ers can only be traded for HOF’ers. No team can have more than one at a time.
  • If at the end of the season a GM wants to drop his HOF'er, he can enter a one round draft to draft another, which will include any other GM wishing to do the same.

Drafts:

  • Hitters must have 300 plate appearances in the season in which he is being utilized to be drafted and play.

  • Relief pitchers must have 30 innings pitched to relieve.
  • Starters must have 100 innings pitched to start and MUST have a SP rating in the game.
  • Each Team keeps 20 (+1HOF) players each season (open to modification in future years)
  • Each year there will be a one round HOF draft (see HOF for rules).
