HOF Season 1 World Series Game 1

All it took was the arm of Whitey Ford HOF and the bats of Nap Lajoie HOF and Willie Mays HOF to give the Birmingham Black Barons a victory in game one. Ford was stellar in relief of Carl Hubbell HOF, tossing 4 innings of two-hit ball. Lajoie and Mays each had three hits and two RBI's a piece. "It's always nice to come out and win game one," said Mays, "but, it's a long series and the Pilots have a pretty good team over there. Warren Spahn HOF took the loss, but went the distance, allowing 9 runs on 12 hits. Hubbell got the win, Ford the four inning save. George Sisler HOF had 3 hits in the loss. "Warren going the distance was big for us," stated the Pilot manager, "he took one for the team and allowed us to not use Welch and Wynn."

In attendance for the game, Joe Chapman and Joe Terry. Each manager was in control of their own substitutions.
