COOPERSTOWN,NY (AP)- The Finger Lakes Flashes have made a move which they hope will drastically improve their pitching staff, and in turn, reverse their fortunes of late. The trade sends underachieving OF Lance Berkman to Florida, in exchange for pitchers Randy Wolf and Scott Williamson, and a second round rookie pick. Flashes GM/owner Harry Fanelli is said to be thrilled with the deal, saying , "OF was really our only area of depth, and to be able to acquire two young arms, and a decent rookie pick, only made it easier to deal Berky. We will still have Millar, Robinson, Kearns, EY, and Erstad to play the outfield for us, and this deal will help us adapt to a "little ball" style that we think can win ballgames. The rookie pick is a great acquisition, as we really feel next season's rookie draft goes 20-25 deep, with a slew of great outfielders and pitchers. Wolf will step right into the rotation and give us another lefty, which is so important in our building, and Scotty becomes our closer, something we have seriously lacked since dealing Smoltzy."
